EV Charging System Installation Guidelines in Israel

Installing an EV charging system in Israel requires compliance with official guidelines published by the Israeli Electricity Authority. Whether you're installing at home, in a shared building, or at a business, understanding these requirements ensures your installation is safe, legal, and future-proof.

Who Can Install?

EV charging installations in Israel must be performed by a licensed electrician (Hashmalay Musmach) who is qualified to work on the relevant type of electrical installation. DIY installation is not permitted and voids equipment warranties.

Key Technical Requirements

The charging circuit must be dedicated — not shared with other appliances. A properly rated RCD (Residual Current Device) is mandatory for protection. Cabling must be sized correctly for the charger's rated current, with appropriate weatherproof conduit where outdoors. The charger must have CE marking and meet European safety standards.

Smart Charger Network Requirements

For smart OCPP chargers connected to a management platform like Greems, the installation must also ensure reliable network connectivity (WiFi or SIM) at the charger location. The charger must be registered and commissioned on the management platform before going live.

Multi-Unit Buildings

In shared buildings, the Israeli Electricity Authority guidelines provide a specific framework for how individual chargers connect to communal infrastructure — including meter separation requirements and load management obligations. Greems handles all of this automatically through its smart load balancing system.

Greems manages compliant EV charging deployments across Israel. Contact us to learn how we handle everything from site assessment to commissioning.
